Role Overview
We are looking for a Data Governance Expert to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing data governance policies and standards. You will collaborate with business and IT teams to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective data management across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own and maintain the data governance framework, including accountability models and RACI across Functional Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians
• Drive the ownership of metadata across the Data Governance structure and popularize data governance practices across the organization
• Assess and plan the governance roadmap — capacity, dependencies, and parallel workstreams — in close collaboration with other data teams
• Define and maintain ways of working within the governance team and cross-functional collaboration with other data teams
• Drive business adoption of governance practices: awareness, training, and ongoing collaboration with users on ownership and responsibilities
• Ensure governance is embedded into delivery processes across the organization
• Define, refine, and prioritize governance policy work across data catalogue, lineage, privacy, security, and data quality
• Ensure policy compliance across the organization and oversee sign-off of data governance deliverables
• Act as the primary point of accountability for governance outcomes, escalating and resolving conflicts between teams where needed

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with demonstrated ownership of governance frameworks or policy
• Strong understanding of data governance principles: data ownership, stewardship models, accountability structures (RACI), and policy design
• Experience driving adoption of governance practices across technical and business teams
• Familiarity with data catalogue, lineage, data quality, and privacy/compliance concepts (GDPR or similar) — hands-on tooling experience is a plus but not the focus of this role
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to influence without direct authority
• Experience planning and prioritizing roadmaps involving multiple dependent workstreams and teams
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; project/program management background is a plus

Nice to Haves

• Experience working with Collibra or similar data governance/catalogue tools (from a policy/ownership rather than technical implementation perspective)
• Experience in regulated industries or with compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)
• Prior experience managing or mentoring a team
