Role Overview
We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing data governance policies and standards. You will collaborate with business and IT teams to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective data management across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing

• Metadata & Data Lineage: Integrate Looker’s semantic layer and report lineage with Collibra, automate metadata harvesting, and maintain report catalogues, ownership, and lineage documentation.
• Data Quality: Design and implement data quality controls, monitoring rules, and reconciliation dashboards across data platforms.
• Metadata Management: Collect and validate business and technical metadata with data stewards, custodians, and D&A/CDI teams, including reverse engineering of legacy systems.
• Data Privacy & GDPR: Support anonymization/deanonymization processes, retention policies, PII governance, and secure access to data across Marketplace and Looker.
• Marketplace Governance: Support Marketplace implementation and automate governance activities, including onboarding approvals, report ownership changes, archival, and expiration controls.
• Governance Automation: Develop automated processes for metadata synchronization, lineage updates, data quality monitoring, and governance workflows.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in data governance, data engineering, or data management.
• Strong knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and governance frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, SQL, and data integration or ETL/ELT processes.
• Familiarity with Collibra, Looker, and data cataloguing solutions.
• Understanding of GDPR, data privacy, access management, and retention policies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Management, or a related field.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Python, data quality automation, and data observability tools.
• Knowledge of MDM, data stewardship, and business glossaries.
• Experience with BigQuery, dbt, Databricks, or other cloud data platforms.
• Familiarity with BI platforms, data security frameworks, and governance workflow automation.
